German tennis professional Yannick Hanfmann advanced comfortably to the second round of the ATP tournament in Santiago de Chile. The Davis Cup player defeated Serbia’s Dusan Lajovic in straight sets, 6-0, 6-3, and will now face the seeded Argentine Camilo Ugo Carabelli.
As the only German competing at the clay-court event in the Chilean capital, Hanfmann dominated from the start. He did not drop a game in the opening set and broke Lajovic’s serve three times. In the second set, the Serbian tried to resist an early exit, but after 1 hour and 15 minutes, Hanfmann converted his first match point to seal his third win in as many meetings against Lajovic.
